Workshop proposals are due: December 10, 2024 to wilson.mccoy@gmail.com AND breenmarie@hotmail.com

Notification: Final decisions on acceptance/rejection status will be sent by December 30, 2024. Early bird registration ends December 31. We will attempt to let everyone know if their workshop has been accepted by the 30th.

Conference Overview: InterGenerate is a conference for academics and practitioners who come together for synergistic and constructive dialogue. With this objective in view, our program includes both paper and workshop presentations.

Paper & Workshop Overview:

Papers primarily address the “why” and “what” questions underlying the “how” of intergenerational ministry practice:

  • Why have churches in the past century promoted more age-segregated approaches to ministry?

  • What are the spiritual benefits of intergenerational ministry for all ages?

  • What biblical support is there for intergenerational approaches to ministry?

  • What theological support is there for intergenerational approaches to ministry?

  • What research supports intergenerational approaches to ministry?

  • What learning theories support intergenerational approaches to ministry?

  • Why is it challenging for churches to become more intentionally intergenerational?

Workshops primarily address the “how” questions that arise from the “why” and “what” questions of intergenerational ministry practice. Examples include how to implement intergenerational storytelling, Bible study, small groups, worship, youth ministry, children’s ministry, etc. Workshops may certainly lean into the why and what questions as well.

Workshops are interactive sessions, guided by the presenter, that emphasize application in real-life settings. Participants should interact, learn new skills or ways of thinking, and discover ways to apply new knowledge to their own work. Each workshop will be scheduled for the entire 75-minute breakout session.

Workshop proposals more likely to be accepted will describe the specific target audience, the topic and its value to practitioners, a plan for the workshop (including activities), and general goals for the workshop. The workshop must of course intersect in meaningful ways with intergenerational ministry.

If you are interested in applying to present a workshop, then please see the submission instructions below.
